For people who are too shy, attending parties and other social gatherings would be a nightmare that they would like to escape from. Confident people cannot bear the thought of standing alone in a corner when others are having fun. But shy people would rather stand quietly because they fear that they might commit a mistake when approaching others.

Remind yourself that all individuals have their own set of flaws. How come they are not shy while you are too shy to face them? What is the difference between you and the rest of the world when you all have your own problem areas to deal with? Basically, it is not about what your negative qualities are, it is how you are working on to stand tall despite of it. You have to be comfortable about yourself because once you are confident, shyness will have no room to bother you ever.

Concentrate on your positive aspects and play them well. Give yourself a chance to find your good qualities and to like yourself. Other people will accept and like you, only when you learn to accept and love yourself for who you are.

Make it a point to always look your best. When you look great, you feel great as well. Where can shyness go when you feel great and confident? Out of the room, right?

Last and the most important, ignore the urge and intense desire to turn your back and run away when subjected to a large crowd or any social situation. Reassure yourself that nothing wrong will happen and go for it. Immerse yourself socially. It may sound difficult but if you try it every now and then, it will surely help you overcome shyness.
